Russell Wilson has always had a squeaky clean image but a year or so ago, he was all over the news after getting a divorce just two years into his marriage. He then developed a relationship with pop singer Ciara. However, the Seattle Seahawks quarterback told an audience at a San Diego mega church Sunday that while Ciara is his “girlfriend,” the two are trying to practice abstinence.
“I ain’t gonna lie to y’all now, I need y’all to pray for us!” Wilson exclaimed during an interview with Pastor Miles McPherson of the Rock Church. Wilson is rich, famous and handsome and Ciara is talented and successful and they could have just about any partner in the world. Wilson told the San Diego pastor that the he made the decision while Ciara was on tour and God spoke to him.
Wilson also touched on his own life story and his desire to continue playing baseball and of course about his faith. “It was about 15 minutes before she went onstage,” he told McPherson, “and she was sitting there, and God spoke to me. He said, ‘I need you to lead her.’ And I was like, ‘Really? Right now?’…and He goes, ‘No, I want you and need you to lead her.’ And so I told her right then and there, ‘What would you do if we took all the extra stuff off the table?’ Just do it Jesus’s way.”
Wilson said that God had brought Ciara into his life to bless her and for her to bless him.
